Join Our Team as an Underwriter - Best Practice Lead!

FMG, are seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Underwriter - Best Practice Lead. In addition to your role as an operational underwriter (providing technical underwriting to enable the acceptance of quality business), you’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards and ensuring consistent practices across our underwriting team.

Role Specifics:

  • Operational Technical Underwriting: to support and enable the acceptance of quality business 
  • Developing Best Practice Underwriting Content and Processes: Create, update, and implement best practice guidelines, documentation, and processes related to underwriting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the wider business to obtain and collate information necessary to maintain/create FMG’s Underwriting Best Practice guidelines, and to support its understanding and consistent application 
  • Reviewing and Update Best Practice Underwriting Guidelines: Establish, review, and update existing underwriting guidelines to keep them relevant and effective.

You Qualifications and Traits:

  • A solid understanding of underwriting is essential.
  • Your positive “can-do” attitude will inspire the team.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) are crucial.  Bonus points for demonstrated experience in technical writing.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships based on trust and respect is key including an ability to bring stakeholders along on the journey
  • Have or currently working towards New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) or equivalent
